| To
support its Institutes and to keep pace with and eventually play a leadership
role in Europe in the ongoing electronic information revolution, the Max Planck
Society initiated a five-year project in 2001, generously supported by the Heinz
Nixdorf Foundation: the Heinz Nixdorf Center for Information Management in the
Max Planck Society (ZIM). The ZIM develops infrastructures and tools for managing
scientific information in order to provide optimal support for scientists in the
research process. The Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL)
was founded in January 2007 as a new central scientific service unit for the Max
Planck Society. Existing activities in the area of information management will
be consolidated in one organization. On the following pages you will find general
information about the ZIM: Learn more about our mission.
